Hong Kong Pop-Deanie Ip "Super Star" (1981)

When comes to this time of the year, I am being reminded of Deanie Ip's Super Star. 

Recorded in 1981 and released under the album title Star Dust, the song tells the sad tale how many people will remember Superstars when they faded to dust. 

It is an original normal song but turned out to be a song to remember the departed stars. 

Humans are just emotional.

张国荣（1956至2003年）、梅艳芳（1963至2003年）、陈百强（1958至1993年）和黄家驹（1962至1993年），他们曾经陪伴了很多歌迷无数欢乐的时光，他们的离开令人惋惜。

A decade has passed. Who did you miss? 

Leslie Cheung (1956-2003)? Anita Mui ( 1963-2003)? Danny Chan (1958-1993)? Wong Ka Kui (1962-1993)? 

They had entertained us, they made us laugh and cry, mesmerize us with their songs and what they did. 

Actually, Hong Kong do not have much superstars left. When age passes on, whom shall we miss? 

The next decade, whom shall you miss?

HK Event-Earth Hour Hong Kong 2013

I am going to share with all the photograph above taken by Hong Kong media, Apple Daily. The top shows the lights off Hong Kong on both Kowloon Peninsula and Hong Kong Island. Below shows the night view when lights are on.

HK Pop- A Better Tomorrow 2 Main Theme (1987) X Korean Pops Orchestra (2009)

One of my wish is to organize a music concert where Orchestra will play tunes of Hong Kong films from the 1970s to 1990s when the films footage is shown at the same time. 

Korean Pops Orchestra have a video clip which they played to the tune of A Better Tomorrow 2. I was watching it and it feels magical to me. Seeing Leslie Cheung and Chow Yuen Fatt fighting for their lives on screen, whereas the strings section played the sad parts of the song detail heroes lives. 

Seeing Hong Kong legacy films played by orchestras even as the city has lived out of her prime, this is what humanity can do for this disappearing culture. 

I hope to do it in near future. Start right here from Singapore. 

Hong Kong Remembers Leslie Cheung/ 香港怀念张国荣

From now till 1 April, Hong Kong is having events to commemorate the late superstar. 

Hong Kong Tourism Board has collaborated a list of events for overseas as well as local fans to join in the special occasion. From Orchestra concerts to exhibitions, it is a showcase to the world that Leslie Cheung is larger than life. He, in fact, had not left Hong Kong and his fans.

Hong Kong Events-The Rugby Sevens 2013

Hong Kong is very happening this week. 

We have the Hong Kong International Film Festival 2013 that opens yesterday and The Rugby Sevens 2013 is opening later this weekend. 

Set in spring season, The Rugby Sevens attracts many of the sports fans to the Pearl of The Orient to support their favourite team.

If you happen to be in Hong Kong from now till 2 April 2013, do not miss the Hong Kong International Film Festival. 

What's you should not miss is the few Hong Kong produced films during the post CEPA period (before 2003), especially the fringe theme Young And Dangerous (1996).

HK People-Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing Toy (張國榮/ 1956-2003)

To commemorate Leslie Cheung's 10th Death Anniversary this year, Hong Kong Hot Toys is releasing a 1/4th Scale collectible figure. 

One of Hong Kong superstars and icon, Leslie Cheung fell to his death on 01 April 2003 at the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong. The real cause to his death is still unknown at this age. 

If he still survives, he would be 56 years old this year. 

I am curious if his fans will buy this figure. 

Kai Tak Airport (1954-1998)

2 days ago, I mentioned about approaching in Kai Tak Airport on my maiden trip to Hong Kong in 1992. 

During those days, Kai Tak Airport proved to be one of the challenging airports for the pilots. A missed approach will send the aircraft onto the residential area or sea. 

As of now, there are plans to build a cruise terminal based on the old structure. Before we see her transformation, please watch the video I find to be interesting.

香港著名老演员江毅于昨天（2013年3月13日）因肺癌辞世，享年77岁。

满怀念他在无线电视的演出，看来要找他在《窃听风云2》的演出，回味一下。

怀念香港/I Miss Hong Kong

这张照片是我最近在整理的时候，找出来修饰一番然后刊登。

1992年，我第一次搭飞机，虽然不是国泰航空的飞机，却是相同的波音747-400型客机去香港。记得，那时机场在启德地区，距离市中心很近。

二十一年后，我的最后旅行会选择在香港结束。希望，这回的香港之行会是美好的。

This photo was published in recent times as I took this Cathay Pacific Boeing 747-400 ER in last October. 

1992, my maiden airplane journey was to Hong Kong in this similar aircraft. I do remember the airport was the Kai Tak Airport, not the present one in Chap Lap Kok area. 

21 years later, I have chosen Hong Kong as my final travel destination as I have other priorities in life. 

Hopefully, my journey is as fruitful with the previous ones. 

Hong Kong Pop-Joseph Koo Masters Classics Live Concert (2012) CD

Just bought this group of 4CDs live recording album. I have not hear the entire set yet but feel this is a worth while investment.

If you want to know more about Hong Kong Pop in her heydays (from 1974 to 1997), this is the one for you.
