Twenty years, Hong Kong music scene lost one of her finest to God of Death.
Wong Ka Kui, lead singer of the rock band Beyond, died in June 30 after 6 days fell from a 2.7m platform while recording a game show in Tokyo.
His death sent shocked waves to many of his fans and those whom love music.
20 years now, his last song A Brighter Future has transcended the meaning to crave out a better future. Just like Roman Tam's Beneath The Lion's Rock, it has become Hong Kong's unofficial anthem as well as epitome of Cantopop in her heyday.
It was once said that Cantopop never felt the same when Ka Kui passed away.
I will not know.
2013, I hope, we will not see deaths of megastar. Because Hong Kong had few megastars left.
Remember Hong Kong, remember Cantopop, remember Beyond.
I present to you A Brighter Future.
