As Hurricane Sandy made her way to USA, the magnitude reminded me of a Cat 10 typhoon that hit Hong Kong in 1962. It was Typhoon Wanda.
Typhoon Wanda hit Hong Kong during Aug 29th and Aug 30th that year. As the storm intensified, nothing can stop her destruction. The storm left 434 dead and 72,000 dead. An entire fishing village in Shatin was destroyed.
The destruction intensity was ranked 6th Worst Typhoon in Hong Kong of all time. The worst typhoon that recorded the most number of death was the "1906 18th Sep Typhoon". 15,000 were dead and 1.349 were missing.
