This is the second major incident in more than 48 months involving Hong Kongers (the first being the Aug 2010 Manila Hostage Crisis). As I am typing this, the death toll stands at 38 and it will not stop there.
There are cries from the victims families at the scene. There are cries from online for abolishing the National Day on 01st Oct and replace it with Remembrance Day. As a city still healing from the social split, it is okay for people to vent their frustration and disappointment online and offline.
What can we learn from this episode? People need not to rely on accident to unite themselves. It is the goodness of humanity that spur people in times of need.
This is the goodness of Hong Kongers community that was rarely round in Chinese sphere.
To the people of Hong Kong, the world wish you the best in facing the adversity.
